Charging axles too much means lengthening the stopping distance of a vehicle. To ensure that vehicles do not jeopardize the traffic safety in Belgium, all highway-entering vehicles drive over sensors which give a first estimation of whether the vehicle is too heavy or not. Based on this data, critical vehicles are taken off the road to get the correct weighing results by driving slowly over axle weighing systems. Minebea Intec is now in charge of renewing these systems. Its approved installations will guarantee an accuracy of more than 99 percent and enable the operator to initiate the next necessary steps.
The Flemish Government is the executive branch of the Flemish Community and the Flemish Region of Belgium. The Ministry for Mobility and Public Works is responsible for the safety of Belgian highways. The order included 40 programmable weight controller Maxxis 5 with specially custom designed software to weigh in motion, 160 truck scale load cells PR 6221 and mounting kits, specially designed platforms and a maintenance contract for the next four years.
